OilCan Joint Lubricant

OilCan offers ideal nutritional support for joints, providing achy joints the nutrition they need to repair, stay lubricated, rid fluid that results in swelling, move freely, and function at their best. Benefits:

  • Gives the body the essential building blocks and nutrients for joint repair.
  • Reduces free radicals and inflammation which should lessen wear and tear on the joints and in-between spinal vertebrae.
  • Reduces the potential for the body to attack its own joint tissue.
  • Joints, cartilage, ligaments, tendons and synovial fluid (for joint lubrication) undergo a continuous but slow turnover and remodeling process. This is affected by many physiological factors such as diet, supplements, activity, stress, gut health, allergies, immune status, infections, aging, hormones, toxic load and/or various medications. The continuous repair of joints and tissue depends on these nutrients: glucosamine, sulfur (MSM), hyaluronic acid, copper and vitamin C for collagen synthesis (found in tendons, cartilage, ligaments). Exercise should be emphasized because it improves blood and lymph circulation, which enables the nutrients to reach the target tissue more effectively.

Four of the most common destructive processes that can impair the health of the connective tissue are :

INFLAMMATION : This could be caused by excessive joint wear and tear, and/or low body stores of anti-inflammatory fatty acids (GLA, EPA) and/or excess of the inflammatory ones (arachidonic acid). Many natural compounds such as turmeric, boswellia, NAC, resveratrol, MSM, green-lipped mussel and cetyl-myristoleate (CMO) have been shown to support this in the positive direction.

Oxidative stress : (free radicals generated from various causes including excessive inflammation, infections, poor diet, oxidized fats, toxic metals): Oxidative stress can be significantly reduced by dietary antioxidants such as resveratrol, turmeric, NAC, and by an adequate supply of essential minerals (selenium, copper, manganese, zinc) that support the body’s own antioxidant enzymes, such as SOD (superoxide dismutase).

Autoimmune conditions : (could be caused by toxic metal/chemical load, intestinal infections, dietary allergies): Most common joint related autoimmune conditions are rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Various nutrients such as niacinamide, NAC, and type II collagen, all found in OilCan have been shown to help.

Catabolic factors : Excessive cortisol production (stress hormones) can have a devastating effect on the ability to form collagen, which is a major component of cartilage, tendons and ligaments.

Here’s what’s in OilCan and why it works.

    Glucosamine Sulfate –

A major component of joint cartilage. Supplements are derived from the shells of shellfish or from vegetable sources. Slows deterioration of cartilage, relieves osteoarthritis (OA) pain and improves joint mobility. Glucosamine produced in the body provides natural building blocks for growth, repair and maintenance of cartilage. Like chondroitin, glucosamine may lubricate joints, help cartilage retain water and prevent its breakdown. Similar to NSAIDs for effectiveness of easing osteoarthritis symptoms but may take twice as long as conventional drugs to work.

Boswellia ECTRACTS – Frankincense, Boswellia, Boswellin, Salai Guggal] Boswellia serrata.

The gum resin from the bark of the Boswellia tree found in India. Reduces inflammation and treats rheumatoid arthritis (RA), osteoarthritis (OA) and bursitis symptoms. Boswellic acids – the active components – may have strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. They may also help prevent cartilage loss and inhibit the autoimmune process, making Indian frankincense/boswellia a potential therapy for RA in addition to OA.

    Turmeric –

A yellow-colored powder ground from the root of the turmeric plant. The turmeric plant grows in India and Indonesia and is related to the ginger family (it is a common ingredient in curries). Curcumin is a key chemical in turmeric. Reduces pain, inflammation and stiffness related to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA); treats bursitis. Known as a cleansing agent, turmeric often is used as a digestive aid in India. Traditionally used in Chinese and Indian Ayurvedic medicine to treat arthritis turmeric/curcumin blocks inflammatory cytokines and enzymes, including cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), the target of celecoxib (Celebrex). Several recent studies show that turmeric/curcumin has anti-inflammatory properties and modifies immune system responses.

    chondroitin Sulfate –

Chondroitin is a component of human connective tissues found in cartilage and bone. In supplements, chondroitin sulfate usually comes from animal cartilage. It may reduce pain and inflammation, improves joint function and slows progression of osteoarthritis. It ls believed to enhance the shock-absorbing properties of collagen and block enzymes that break down cartilage. Helps cartilage retain water and may reverse cartilage loss when used with glucosamine.

    Quercetin –

Quercetin is a type of flavonoid antioxidant that’s found in plant foods, including leafy greens, tomatoes, berries and broccoli. (1) It’s technically considered a “plant pigment,” which is exactly why it’s found in deeply colored, nutrient-packed fruits and veggies.

Considered one of the most abundant antioxidants in the human diet, quercetin plays an important part in fighting free radical damage, the effects of aging and inflammation. (2) While you can get plenty of quercetin from eating a healthy diet, some people also take quercetin supplements for their strong anti-inflammatory effects.

Flavonoid polyphenols are most beneficial for down-regulating or suppressing inflammatory pathways and functions. Quercetin is considered the most diffused and known nature-derived flavonol there is, showing strong effects on immunity and inflammation caused by leukocytes and other intracellular signals.

    Methionine –

Methionine, or methionine, is an essential amino acid found in the body used to make proteins and peptides. It’s found in meat, fish and dairy products, as well as nuts and grains. Think protein foods, and you will likely find methionine. Methionine may help athletic performance (and even weight loss) due to its effects on bones. Testing results indicate that the methionine combined with endurance exercise enhanced natural bone strength overall.

    MSM – Methylsulfonylmethane –

What is MSM (methylsulfonylmethane)? It’s an organic sulfur-containing compound that’s used to improve immune function, lower inflammation and help restore healthy bodily tissue. The reason so many benefits are attributed to the MSM supplement is because MSM provides biologically active sulfur, which is the fourth most plentiful mineral in the body and needed for many different critical bodily functions every single day. MSM helps decrease joint inflammation, improves flexibility and restores collagen production. Research shows that many patients with arthritis, joint pain, stiffness, knee/back problems and a limited range of motion experience a reduction in symptoms and improved quality of life when taking an MSM supplement. MSM is beneficial for helping the body form new joint and muscle tissue while lowering inflammatory responses that contribute to swelling and stiffness.

    Bromelain –

Pineapple is a South American native and a cherished part of Hawaiian folk medicine. It appears that the secret to its almost supernatural healing power comes from a protein-digesting enzyme called bromelain. In fact, pineapple is one of the richest sources of bromelain in the world. This fascinating compound has traditionally been used as a potent anti-inflammatory and anti-swelling agent. Also, because it’s commonly used as a meat tenderizer, bromelain can also help soothe and relaxes tense, inflamed muscles and connective tissue. The widespread healing power of this enzyme is truly remarkable! Due to its powerful anti-inflammatory and analgesic characteristics, bromelain is fantastic for acute or chronic joint pain.
